Long Beach Dog Bakery
About Our Long Beach Dog Bakery
Meet the family, rescue pets, and farmers market community behind our handmade dog treats.
Hi, I'm Liza!
I'm the founder, chief treat baker, professional dog cuddler, and the hooman behind Doggo Nice Day, a Long Beach Dog Bakery rooted in community.
For more than 30 years I worked in radio and television, including 20 years with the same corporate employer. In October 2024, while selling avocados and citrus from my micro farm at local farmers markets, I noticed something that stuck with me.
Every weekend, dogs would wander over for cuddles, scratches behind the ears, or simply to say hello. I always felt bad that I didn't have anything special for them.
That's when the idea for Doggo Nice Day was born.
Just a few days later, my corporate position was made redundant. What could have been one of the hardest moments of my career became the opportunity to build something I truly loved: a business centred around dogs, community, and creating healthy treats made with care.
I couldn't ask for a better job. I get to combine my passions for baking, nutrition, animals, community, and marketing, including the work I do through my agency, Banba Creations.

Small on purpose
Why Our Long Beach Dog Bakery Stays Small On Purpose
Doggo Nice Day has never been about becoming a huge commercial brand. I intentionally keep the business small and sell exclusively at local farmers markets because I never want quality to be compromised.
Every batch is made by hand, every recipe is carefully prepared, and every customer gets the personal service they deserve.
Over time, something wonderful happened. Our customers became our friends. The markets became part of everyone's weekly routine.
That's why we stick to our local farmers markets and don't do special events. Leaving our regular markets would mean being away from the customers and doggos who have come to count on us. On the rare occasions when we have had to cancel a market, doggos have stopped in shock at the empty space where our stall should be, absolutely heartbroken that their usual stop was missing.
Long Beach is our adopted home, and we love this community and the values it stands for. We are so grateful to have been welcomed here and to be part of the weekly rhythm that makes our markets feel like family.
Some of the doggos don't even need their humans to tell them where we're set up anymore. They know exactly where to find us.
Our family
Meet the Family Behind Our Long Beach Dog Bakery
Every recipe we create has a story behind it, and every one of those stories begins with an animal who has left paw prints, or bunny prints, on our hearts.
Tanis - The Dog Who Inspired Our Long Beach Dog Bakery
Tanis, our beloved Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever mix, was the inspiration behind Doggo Nice Day long before the business ever existed.
Tanis was adopted through Aussie Rescue SoCal in 2008 at about a year and a half old. He had never been on a lead, never been indoors, and never been fed a treat. It did not take him long to adjust. Soon he never met a stranger or treat he did not like, and he became the heart and soul of our home.
After researching canine nutrition and switching him to a simple, natural diet, we watched his skin, coat, comfort, and happiness improve. That experience taught us what we feed our dogs matters. Seeing how dramatically the right diet transformed Tanis became one of the earliest sparks behind our belief in better, simpler ingredients.
Tanis crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2021, but his legacy is still baked into everything we do.
Tiffa - The Queen of Frozen Yogurt
If you've ever enjoyed one of our frozen yogurt treats, you have Tiffa to thank. Our miniature Dachshund inspired the cool, hydrating cups that help keep doggos happy during warm Southern California days.
Tiffa was born November 11, 2010. Tanis and Tiffa became known as Scooby and Scrappy Doo, and while age has slowed her down, she is still as scrappy as ever.
Saoirse - Chief Cookie Tester
Saoirse joined our family on December 19, 2024, after being abandoned at a high-kill shelter. When we adopted her, she was very ill with kennel cough and pneumonia. Today she's our enthusiastic taste tester, chief quality control officer, and proof that patience, love, and a good cookie can go a very long way.
She's a very smart girl and a fierce protector of her home. The Peanut Butter Crunchies and Chip Happens collection have been essential to her training. She'll do anything for a cookie, even leave the postman be.
Because of her rough start, Saoirse will need a very careful and nutritious diet for life, so she reminds us every day why thoughtful ingredients matter.
Ruby - The Smartest One of the Bunch
Ruby is our rescued house rabbit and, without a doubt, the cleverest of all our animals. He has learned plenty of tricks for treats and has no hesitation lining up alongside the dogs whenever snacks are being handed out. Our local farmers always send us home with more fresh greens than a bunny could dream of.
Ruby had been rescued by my very good friend in 2016, who shared the same love for animals as myself. When she passed away suddenly in 2022, I knew I had to adopt Ruby and give him the life she would have wanted. Not only did we fall in love with Ruby, who very quickly adapted to our family, he got me through the grief of having lost my friend. Burbank Animal Shelter helped facilitate a smooth adoption with kindness in such a tragic situation.
Midna - Queen of the House
As our resident cat queen, Midna supervises absolutely everything while making sure everyone knows who's really in charge.
Midna was adopted as a mama stray in March 2018 from Michelson Found Animals. She's a funny gal who mimics our activities. When we're washing dishes, she washes her toys in the water dish. When we had a door that was sticking and had to give it a good shove, she started body slamming it when she wanted out of that room.
Finn McCool - Forever in Our Hearts
Finn was born in 2021 and named after the Irish legend. In his short life, he lived up to that mighty name in every way.
Finn wasn't just our cat. He was family. After a courageous fight, Finn crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February 2026, leaving an enormous hole in our hearts.
Many of our customers followed his journey, celebrated his victories with us, and mourned his passing alongside us. His story reminded us just how deeply our pets become part of our families.
Princess Fiona - Living Her Best Life
Princess Fiona, our newest family member, was adopted in March 2026 from the spcaLA. She was brought there as a pregnant stray. She has embraced her new career as a professional lap cat and can usually be found chatting to the neighbourhood cats from the window.
It didn't take long for her to adapt to her new life or for her personality to flourish, from pregnant stray to Princess.
Family business
A Long Beach Dog Bakery Family Business
Doggo Nice Day is a Long Beach Dog Bakery and family business in every sense of the word. My daughter, Alannah, is my business partner. She helps bake our treats, designs our packaging, and can usually be found beside me at the markets meeting our wonderful customers and their doggos.
During avocado season you'll also find us running Avo Nice Day, our micro farm selling fresh avocados and citrus.
Whether we're baking treats or harvesting fruit, everything we do is centred around quality, community, and bringing smiles to people's faces.
Made with care
A Licensed Long Beach Dog Bakery Made With Care
Doggo Nice Day is fully licensed and accredited as a Long Beach Dog Bakery with the City of Long Beach and the California Departments of Public Health and Agriculture.
Every treat is prepared in a commercial kitchen under strict food safety standards, and we hold all required food handling certifications and permits for commercial food production and farmers markets.
When you buy from Doggo Nice Day, you're supporting a local, family-owned business that believes in quality, transparency, and treating every customer, two-legged and four-legged, like family.
